Rita Higgins studied at University College Cork obtaining a BCL (Clinical) degree in 2012. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2016. Rita specialises in Commercial Law, Litigation, Data Protection/GDPR and Employment Law.
Rita represents a wide variety of corporate clients, financial institutions and private clients in court proceedings before all levels of the Irish Courts in relation to civil matters primarily in the area of Commercial Litigation.
Rita has experience in advising clients on various commercial contract queries including: negotiating the agreement of contracts on behalf of clients, drafting/amending contracts with suppliers/potential suppliers for the provision of goods and services, drafting and reviewing shareholders’ agreements and advising clients on any data protection and/or intellectual property rights issues which may arise in those contracts.
Rita advises clients on all aspects of Data Protection Law including: obligations of data processors and data controllers, data breach queries, compliance with data access requests and drafting privacy notices, privacy policies and general privacy notices.
Rita also has extensive knowledge in the area of Employment Law and has advised clients in relation to contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
Rita has completed the following Professional Certificates with the Law Society of Ireland: Certificate in Technology Law (2020), Certificate in Commercial Contracts (2019) and Certificate in Pension Law (2015)
